Solar QC Inspector Journeyman, Mulberry Florida

Job Summary

Overland Contracting Inc. is seeking a journeyman-level Solar QC Inspector to oversee quality inspections and coordinate QC activities on a photovoltaic construction project in Mulberry, Florida. This is a full-time, non-union craft position with supervisory and field-training responsibilities.

Project Details

The role supports solar PV construction, including electrical systems, structural and mechanical assemblies, racking, panels, civil site work, roads, fencing, drainage features, inverter pads, and backfill.

Responsibilities

• Inspect solar electrical, structural, mechanical, racking, panel, and civil installations against drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
• Use hand and power tools to perform inspections, measurements, testing, and verification of installed work.
• Coordinate QC inspectors, supervise and train team members, and provide installation-practice training to other crafts.
• Complete quality checklists, inspection records, photographs, and required sign-offs accurately and on schedule.
• Represent quality during client meetings, walkdowns, and other project coordination activities.
• Review timecards, coordinate tools and materials, and communicate work with supervisors, crafts, and client representatives.
• Lead daily pre-job safety planning, report incidents and near misses, support investigations, and enforce stop-work and lockout/tagout procedures.

Required Experience

• At least four years of combined journeyman and QC experience, including at least one year in quality control.
• Prior supervisory experience is preferred, along with demonstrated leadership, organization, safety, quality, and productivity skills.
• Required tools include the equipment identified on the Craft QC Tool List.
• One or more NCCER credentials in Concrete Finishing, Carpenter, Reinforcing Ironwork, Rigger, Scaffolding, Fundamentals of Crew Leadership, Project Supervision, or Project Management.
• Must be at least 18 years old and able to work safely in demanding construction-site conditions.
