Safety & Health Manager - Combined Cycle - GA

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Safety & Health Manager to lead loss-control and site safety operations for a complex combined-cycle power construction project in Cartersville, Georgia. The role oversees project safety, health, environmental, security, and emergency-response activities.

Project Details

This position supports a large, potentially hazardous combined-cycle power project within Black & Veatch's industrial construction portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Administer the contractor safety and health program, including inspections, audits, training, documentation, and regulatory coordination.
• Manage site safety, environmental, security, substance-abuse, workers' compensation, insurance, and related project programs.
• Investigate incidents and injuries, prepare detailed reports, and communicate with clients and government representatives.
• Lead emergency response when needed and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Supervise and develop safety interns, specialists, and other safety managers.
• Act as a project manager and coordinate the project team.

Required Experience

• At least five years of construction-environment experience and five years in safety and health.
• Safety and health certification and a bachelor's degree are preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
• Preferred knowledge includes construction contracting, environmental and security programs, insurance administration, safety budgeting, workers' compensation, and emergency management.
• Listed certifications include First Aid/CPR, drug-testing certification, OSHA 500, Safety and Health Program Administration, and OSHA 10-hour training.
• Ability to work safely in demanding construction conditions, including heights, uneven terrain, confined spaces, hazardous equipment, weather extremes, and shifts of up to 12 hours.
