Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - West Region Business Development

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a senior instrumentation and controls engineer to support West-region business development and delivery for water and industrial water clients. The role combines technical leadership, client engagement, project management, and pursuit development.

Project Details

Work includes instrumentation, controls, automation, SCADA assessments, master plans, and design services for water and wastewater utilities and industrial water projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop client relationships and coordinate between local, remote, and client design teams.
• Lead I&C pursuits, proposals, marketing content, contract negotiations, and project execution.
• Manage planning, design, construction-phase services, schedules, budgets, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Participate in client and contractor meetings, field investigations, factory acceptance testing, and issue resolution.
• Lead SCADA assessments and master plans that support utility operations and maintenance decisions.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent engineering experience, with at least 11 years of related work experience.
• About 10 years of instrumentation, controls, and automation design consulting experience.
• At least 4 years in the water and wastewater industry and 2 years in project management and business development.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record responsibilities.
• Strong technical writing, communication, management, and broad I&C technical capabilities.

Compensation and Benefits

The posted salary range is $156,299-$261,008 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, wellness programs, paid time off, holiday and sick leave, a company-matched 401(k), and employee stock ownership. Hybrid or flexible work may be available after 90 days at management discretion.
