Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer - West Region Business Development

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to support West Region business development and lead I&C, automation, and SCADA work for water, wastewater, and industrial water clients.

Project Details

The role supports utility and industrial water pursuits, including SCADA assessments, master plans, automation upgrades, and multidisciplinary design and construction-phase services.

Responsibilities

• Develop client relationships and serve as the connection between clients, local design teams, and remote technical groups.
• Lead pursuits, proposals, marketing content, contract negotiations, and I&C project delivery.
• Manage SCADA assessments and master plans for utility operations and maintenance needs.
• Coordinate engineering, schedules, budgets, client meetings, field investigations, factory acceptance testing, and construction issue resolution.
• Support business development presentations and oversee I&C execution on multidisciplinary projects.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program or equivalent engineering experience.
• At least 11 years of related experience, including preferred experience in I&C design consulting, water/wastewater, project management, and business development.
• Preferred background includes 10 years in instrumentation, controls, and automation design consulting; 4 years in water/wastewater; and 2 years in project management and business development.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements.
• Strong technical writing, communication, management, and broad I&C technical capabilities.
