Senior Electrical Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical design and provide technical direction for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This full-time role supports municipal, industrial, and environmental clients from the company’s Integrated Water & Environmental business.

Project Details

Project work includes water and wastewater treatment infrastructure, electrical power distribution, plant electrical systems, energy optimization, power system studies, construction support, equipment startup, and coordination with utilities and instrumentation and control teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for water and wastewater projects.
• Advise engineering and technician teams on client standards and detailed design requirements.
• Serve as a technical resource for power distribution and plant electrical systems.
• Support client development, technical consultations, supplier submittal reviews, construction inspections, and resolution of field issues.
• Coordinate with clients, local design teams, remote design teams, and electrical utilities.
• Support startup and testing of major electrical equipment.
• Supervise work and manage hiring, discipline, and pay administration for assigned staff.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
• At least 11 years of related experience in electrical design, planning, and construction services.
• Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer-of-record requirements.
• Professional Engineer license in Maryland or another U.S. jurisdiction preferred.
• Experience with medium- and low-voltage distribution equipment, variable frequency drives, and standby diesel generators preferred.
• Water and wastewater consulting experience and client-facing business development experience preferred.
• Experience with SKM, ETAP, or comparable power system analysis software is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

The applicable salary range is $135,320-$225,980 per year. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, wellness programs, paid time off, a company-matched 401(k), tuition and adoption reimbursement, and employee ownership through a 100% ESOP. Relocation is eligible, and hybrid or flexible work may be available after 90 days at management discretion.
