Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Safety & Health Manager to lead safety and health implementation on a moderately complex simple-cycle power project in Beech Island. This project-focused role supports field compliance, workforce protection, and safety program execution.

Project Details

The assignment is a project-only position supporting a simple-cycle power construction project in Beech Island, South Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Administer project safety, health, substance abuse, security, workers' compensation, and related compliance programs.
• Deliver employee training, perform site inspections, and investigate incidents and injuries.
• Prepare safety records, reports, and required company documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, government officials, and internal stakeholders.
• Supervise and develop safety interns and safety specialists.
• Provide first aid or medical support when assigned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Experience

• At least five years of safety and health experience.
• At least three years in a construction environment is preferred.
• Safety and health certification and a bachelor's degree are preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, substance abuse procedures, workers' compensation, contract administration, reporting, and safety consultation is preferred.
• Ability to work safely on construction sites, including extended shifts, elevated work, confined areas, uneven surfaces, and varying weather conditions.
• Completion of applicable background, drug screening, and motor vehicle checks may be required before employment.
