Safety & Health Manager - Distributed Energy - MS

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a mid-level Safety & Health Manager for a distributed energy construction project in Canton, Mississippi. The role maintains project safety procedures, supports field compliance, and may supervise other safety professionals.

Project Details

The position supports a larger, moderately complex distributed energy construction project in a field-based environment.

Responsibilities

• Administer project safety, health, substance abuse, security, workers' compensation, and recordkeeping programs.
• Deliver employee safety training and perform detailed site inspections.
• Investigate incidents and injuries, prepare reports, and complete required safety documentation.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, government officials, and internal stakeholders.
• Provide safety consultation, first aid or medical support when needed, and continuous improvement leadership.
• Supervise, train, and develop safety interns and safety specialists.

Required Experience

• At least five years of safety and health experience.
• Three or more years in a construction environment preferred.
• Safety and health certification and a bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent also preferred.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, substance abuse and workers' compensation procedures, contract administration, reporting, and safety consultation.
• Ability to work around construction hazards, climb stairs and scaffolds, and complete shifts of up to 12 hours in varying outdoor conditions.
