Resident Construction Inspector - Water - DC Metro

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an experienced Resident Construction Inspector to support water infrastructure projects in the DC Metro area. The role provides onsite inspection, documentation, quality oversight, and coordination with project leadership, contractors, owners, and design teams.

Project Details

Projects may include civil works, underground pipelines, pumping stations, and water treatment or related plant facilities, ranging from smaller assignments to complex medium and large projects.

Responsibilities

• Inspect construction work, coordinate field testing, document observations, and develop completion punch lists.
• Review schedules, submittals, drawings, specifications, payment requests, change proposals, claims, and contractor records.
• Coordinate responses to construction questions and changed conditions with engineering, project management, and design disciplines.
• Monitor onsite quality assurance, safety compliance, as-built documentation, equipment startup, and operator training activities.
• Serve as the onsite liaison among the owner, contractor, inspectors, and project team, providing direction to field staff as needed.

Required Experience

• At least seven years of field construction experience.
• Associate degree in a construction-related field or craft apprenticeship is preferred.
• Concrete, compaction, civil testing, or construction inspection credentials are preferred.
• Ability to work in active construction environments, including confined or uneven areas, elevated work areas, variable weather, and shifts of up to 12 hours.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary is $95,000-$115,000. Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, paid time off, holidays, sick leave, a company-matched 401(k), wellness programs, and employee stock ownership through the ESOP. A performance-based bonus may also be available.
