Project Manager - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Manager to lead water and wastewater infrastructure work as part of its Washington, D.C.-area business leadership team. This employee-owner role combines client leadership, project delivery, business development, and team management.

Project Details

Manage multi-million-dollar water and wastewater infrastructure projects for municipalities, government agencies, and other community-focused clients in the Washington, D.C. market.

Responsibilities

• Lead marketing, business development, proposals, client presentations, budgeting, and contracting efforts.
• Manage client relationships and contribute to market and account strategies.
• Oversee engineering managers, project teams, performance goals, budgets, invoicing, payments, and project reviews.
• Coordinate with owners and internal teams throughout project execution.
• Mentor staff and support training, promotion, and team growth.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Preferred candidates have 15 or more years of water and wastewater experience with leadership experience in the Washington, D.C. market.
• Professional Engineering license and a technical bachelor’s degree are preferred.
• Knowledge of project budgets, financial metrics, contract negotiation, pricing, risks, and payment terms.
• Ability to travel to client sites and use video and audio conferencing tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $126,360-$221,124. The role includes comprehensive health benefits, retirement matching, paid leave, flexible work options, potential performance-based bonus eligibility, relocation eligibility, and employee stock ownership through the company’s ESOP.
