Mechanical Buildings Engineer HVAC Plumbing

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Mechanical Buildings Engineer to support HVAC and plumbing engineering for water and wastewater treatment projects. The position is based in Overland Park and supports multidisciplinary teams across the United States and Canada.

Project Details

Projects include treatment plants, pump stations, process and utility buildings, administration facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and related support structures.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review HVAC criteria, load calculations, ventilation, exhaust, pressurization, heating, cooling, and equipment sizing.
• Design and coordinate domestic water, sanitary and storm drainage, emergency fixtures, floor drains, and specialty drainage systems.
• Prepare drawings, specifications, schedules, equipment data, calculations, and design reports.
• Coordinate mechanical deliverables with process, civil, structural, architectural, electrical, instrumentation and controls, fire protection, piping, and procurement teams.
• Review work for quality, code compliance, constructability, maintainability, and interdisciplinary coordination.
• Support vendor reviews, RFIs, construction activities, commissioning, and startup.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least one year of related work experience.
• HVAC and plumbing design experience preferred.
• Experience with EPC, FEL/FEED, design-build, alternative delivery, or other project delivery methods is a plus.
• Active pursuit of engineering registration or licensure to support engineer-of-record requirements is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

The listed California annual compensation range is $91,047-$152,053.
