Graduate Engineer, Structural Transmission Line (Central Region)

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is hiring an entry-level Structural Transmission Line Engineer to support infrastructure projects while developing foundational engineering and project coordination skills. The role is based in or requires relocation to Ann Arbor, Michigan; Overland Park, Kansas; or Bloomington, Minnesota.

Project Details

Work focuses on structural engineering for electric transmission line infrastructure, including design deliverables, technical studies, equipment and material recommendations, and engineering calculations.

Responsibilities

• Apply company standards, engineering codes, design guides, and established procedures.
• Prepare basic calculations, drawings, reports, specifications, and limited-scope studies.
• Research equipment and materials, organize engineering data, and support technical recommendations.
• Coordinate with project teams, follow budget and schedule requirements, and assist with quality and continuous improvement efforts.
• Share technical knowledge and support client service or business development activities as assigned.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Basic understanding of engineering design principles, applicable standards, construction and constructability practices, and industry technology trends.
• Strong potential for learning, problem solving, written communication, listening, and working through ambiguity.
• Selected candidates must complete applicable pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $80,000-$91,343. Benefits may include medical, dental and vision coverage, disability insurance, wellness programs, paid time off, holidays, sick leave, company-matched 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and employee stock ownership through the 100% ESOP structure. Relocation eligibility and flexible or hybrid work options after the first 90 days may be available based on business conditions and performance.
