Graduate Engineer, Mechanical - Water/Industrial Water

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to support water and industrial water infrastructure projects from its Overland Park team. This entry-level role focuses on building engineering expertise while contributing to practical, community-serving facilities.

Project Details

The position supports water and industrial water treatment facilities within the Buildings discipline, including mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment sizing and engineering performance calculations.
• Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams.
• Prepare limited-scope drawings, reports, specifications, studies, and basic engineering calculations.
• Collect, organize, and manage technical data for project work.
• Apply design standards, engineering codes, company procedures, and quality requirements.
• Support project budget, schedule, constructability, and client-service objectives.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Foundational knowledge of engineering design principles, applicable standards, construction practices, and quality programs.
• Coursework in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer is preferred.
• Successful candidates must complete applicable pre-employment screening, which may include background, drug, and motor vehicle record checks.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $78,850.00-$92,457.75. Relocation assistance may be available, and hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days based on business and performance factors.
