Graduate Engineer, Mechanical - Data Centers

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an entry-level Mechanical Engineer to support data center design projects within its Buildings practice. The role provides early-career experience on critical infrastructure projects in an employee-owned organization.

Project Details

Support mechanical building systems for data centers, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment sizing, performance calculations, and basic engineering analyses.
• Develop piping and instrumentation diagrams and contribute to drawings, reports, specifications, and studies.
• Collect and manage engineering data while following applicable codes, standards, quality requirements, budgets, and schedules.
• Apply company design guides, engineering procedures, and constructability principles to assigned work.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Basic understanding of engineering design principles, applicable standards, quality programs, and construction practices.
• Coursework in fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer is preferred.
• Successful candidates must complete applicable pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $78,850-$92,457.75. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability coverage, wellness programs, paid time off, holidays, a company-matched 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and employee ownership through the ESOP. Relocation is eligible, and hybrid or flexible work may be available after the first 90 days based on business and manager approval.
