Field Safety Coordinator Pecos (Bird Electric)

Job Summary

Bird Electric, a Black & Veatch company, is seeking a Field Safety Coordinator for work in the Pecos, Texas area. This site-based role supports a strong safety culture across construction operations and helps ensure personnel follow company, client, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform field safety inspections, audits, training support, and compliance monitoring.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, assist with root-cause analysis, and track corrective actions.
• Maintain safety records, reports, and required compliance documentation.
• Identify workplace hazards and recommend controls, including appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Coordinate emergency response drills and support injured-employee case follow-up.
• Review permit systems and field controls involving lockout/tagout, hot work, confined space activities, and lift plans.
• Communicate safe work practices to field teams and coordinate with management, clients, and government representatives.

Required Experience

• Three or more years of construction-environment experience is preferred.
• Safety and health certification and a bachelor's degree are preferred; a high school diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
• Emergency Medical Technician certification and OSHA 10-hour training.
• Knowledge of construction safety standards, worker's compensation, substance-abuse policies, incident response, and applicable OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
• Ability to prepare detailed reports, use word-processing and spreadsheet software, communicate effectively, and work with client and regulatory personnel.
• Ability to complete background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks if selected.

Work Environment

• Construction-site and office work may involve extreme temperatures, weather, noise, hazardous equipment, confined spaces, uneven terrain, ladders, scaffolds, and work above five feet.
• The role may require lifting up to 50 pounds, extended walking and standing, and physically demanding work for shifts of up to 12 hours.
• This is a safety-sensitive position requiring extensive project travel, with holiday, weekend, and overtime work as assignments require.
