Construction Manager - Substation - Indiana

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager to coordinate field execution for substation construction projects in Indiana. This employee-owner role oversees schedule, safety, cost, quality, staffing, and construction resources in partnership with the project field team.

Project Details

The position supports electrical substation construction within the company's power and grid infrastructure portfolio. It is a travel-based field assignment with work performed across active construction sites and associated office settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction teams with methods, staffing, equipment, materials, and tools needed for substation installation.
• Coordinate schedule, productivity, quantities, cost reporting, quality, and safety performance.
• Develop construction procedures, quality programs, job hazard analyses, and corrective action plans.
• Participate in constructability, risk, proposal, subcontract, and project review activities.
• Monitor field progress, timesheets, installed quantities, payment requests, and resource availability.
• Work with clients, subcontractors, EH&S, project controls, and operations teams to resolve issues and support commercial recovery.

Required Experience

• Substation construction experience and at least 10 years of construction supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred; relevant field experience may be considered.
• Preferred background includes 8 or more years of substation construction experience with a degree, or 18 or more years without one.
• Knowledge of project controls, budgets, risk management, construction management systems, scheduling, and productivity tracking.
• OSHA Training required.
• Ability to complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at height and in confined areas, climb ladders or steel structures, and work shifts of up to 12 hours outdoors.
