Construction Manager - Simple/Combined Cycle

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a field-based Construction Manager to lead construction execution for simple-cycle and combined-cycle power projects. This staff role supports a pipeline of 2027 assignments with project locations expected across several states.

Project Details

The role supports industrial power-generation construction, including subcontractor execution, field logistics, schedule coordination, completion, startup handoff, and turnover activities.

Responsibilities

• Direct subcontractor coordination, daily planning, site access, and field logistics.
• Support implementation of construction execution plans and provide guidance to superintendents and field crews.
• Track productivity, schedule, budget, safety, quality, and project progress.
• Develop recovery actions with subcontractors and project leadership when schedule performance declines.
• Coordinate walkdowns, punch-list completion, startup packages, and project turnover.
• Assist the Site Manager with client communication, issue resolution, reporting, and field leadership coverage.
• Lead subcontractor meetings covering schedules, RFIs, extra work, backcharges, payment progress, and installation status.
• Promote safety, quality, continuous improvement, and collaboration among field teams and project partners.
• Supervise and mentor superintendents while coordinating with engineering, materials, project controls, and equipment service personnel.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of construction supervisory or field leadership experience.
• Experience with simple-cycle, combined-cycle, or other power-generation construction is preferred.
• Knowledge of EPC delivery, constructability, subcontractor management, project controls, scheduling, budgeting, risk, safety, and quality leadership is preferred.
• A bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred, with relevant field experience also considered.
• OSHA training is required.
• Ability to complete applicable background, drug-screen, and motor-vehicle-record checks.
