Construction Manager Practice Lead

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager Practice Lead to grow and lead its Northern California construction management practice. The role combines client development, project leadership, team building, and operational accountability for infrastructure programs.

Project Details

The practice supports major water and wastewater infrastructure, including treatment facilities, pump stations, pipelines, water conveyance systems, dams, and tunnels. The successful candidate will help expand regional work with utilities, government agencies, clients, and teaming partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction management pursuits, capture strategies, proposals, presentations, and client engagement.
• Provide technical and practice leadership on active projects and serve as Project Director, Program Manager, or Construction Manager when assigned.
• Build client and teaming-partner relationships while strengthening regional market visibility.
• Recruit, mentor, develop, and coordinate construction management professionals.
• Support project safety, quality, financial performance, staffing, and technical execution.
• Improve construction management tools, processes, and delivery resources across the organization.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 20 years of construction management delivery experience on major infrastructure projects.
• At least 20 years of client business development and proposal development experience.
• Experience delivering infrastructure projects exceeding $100 million in construction costs, preferably in water, wastewater, pipelines, conveyance, dams, or tunnels.
• California Professional Engineer license required.
• CMAA CCM and DBIA certification are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $219,063-$372,398. The role offers relocation eligibility, hybrid or flexible work options subject to business conditions, comprehensive health coverage, paid time off, retirement benefits, tuition reimbursement, and potential performance-based bonus eligibility.
