Construction Manager - GRID

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager to coordinate field construction activities for a GRID project in the City of Commerce, Los Angeles. The role leads site execution, subcontractor coordination, schedule compliance, safety, quality, cost control, and project closeout.

Project Details

The project requires high-voltage transmission and substation construction experience and mobilization to the site for the duration of the work. Union or union-management experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate subcontractor work, construction schedules, execution planning, productivity, and compliance with contract requirements.
• Supervise and mentor superintendents while monitoring schedule, budget, equipment, labor, materials, and change management activities.
• Lead coordination meetings, schedule recovery efforts, construction walkdowns, punch-list completion, startup handoff, and project closeout.
• Support client relations, engineering deliverables, field reporting, supplier and subcontractor payments, and manufacturer service technician coordination.
• Address safety and quality issues, serve as the site safety representative when needed, and stand in for the Project Field Manager when required.
• Champion continuous improvement and help implement related change initiatives.

Required Experience

• At least 14 years of construction supervisory experience, including three or more years as a construction manager.
• Bachelor's degree in construction, engineering, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent field experience.
• OSHA training is required.
• Knowledge of EPC construction, project controls, constructability, budgeting, risk management, construction technology, and construction project management systems is preferred.
• Ability to work safely in demanding construction environments, including elevated areas, confined spaces, outdoor weather, hazardous equipment areas, and shifts of up to 12 hours.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $118,580-$197,820 per year. The company is 100% ESOP-owned, and the position may include a performance-based bonus opportunity.
