BESS Services Project Manager

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a BESS Services Project Manager to oversee battery energy storage system services from early development and engineering through commissioning and closeout. This role manages multidisciplinary teams, client relationships, project performance, and delivery across cost, schedule, quality, safety, and contractual requirements.

Project Details

Projects may include standalone battery energy storage facilities, hybrid or co-located systems paired with solar, wind, or thermal generation, and BESS installations supporting data center development. Typical services project revenues range from $50,000 to $10 million.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, design engineering, owner's engineering, permitting support, estimating, procurement support, bid evaluation, construction support, commissioning, and turnover activities.
• Coordinate internal professionals and third-party contributors while maintaining project scope, schedule, financial, quality, safety, and client objectives.
• Manage multiple clients or projects and support staffing and day-to-day execution.
• Lead proposals, prepare scopes and budgets, and pursue new and repeat business as a seller-doer.
• Build relationships with energy storage technology leaders and contribute to conferences, presentations, papers, webinars, and other thought leadership.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required; an engineering degree is preferred.
• Typically five years of project management experience.
• Experience with front-of-the-meter and behind-the-meter BESS projects is preferred, with hybrid storage experience a plus.
• Ability to guide professionals across a global organization and develop business and technology solutions.
• A Professional Engineer license is a plus.
