Quality Project Engineer (Mission Critical) Philadelphia, PA

Job Summary

Barton Malow is hiring a full-time, on-site Quality Project Engineer to support a mission critical construction project near Philadelphia. The role maintains the field quality record and coordinates quality activities with project leadership, trade partners, the owner, design professionals, testing agencies, and commissioning personnel.

Project Details

The position supports a large-scale mission critical facility near Philadelphia, with substantial inspection, testing, closeout, and turnover documentation requirements. Work takes place in an active construction environment with exposure to weather, noise, elevated areas, uneven terrain, and required personal protective equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document inspections using contract requirements, approved submittals, and the project quality plan.
• Coordinate inspection and test plans, hold points, special inspections, and third-party testing.
• Track nonconformances through corrective action, verification, escalation, and closure.
• Lead punch list development, owner and design-team walks, trade assignments, and completion verification.
• Compile turnover records such as testing reports, material certifications, warranties, manuals, and as-built documentation.
• Support mockups, first-in-place reviews, preparatory meetings, commissioning readiness, quality reporting, and root-cause reviews.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent field experience.
• Two to five years of quality or engineering experience on large-scale construction projects; mission critical experience is preferred.
• Experience with inspections, nonconformance tracking, punch lists, closeout, and turnover documentation.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and working knowledge of construction testing, inspection practices, codes, and standards.
• Proficiency with construction management, quality, document control, spreadsheet, and drawing markup platforms.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, persistence, and willingness to work on site.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, on-site position near Philadelphia. Closeout and turnover periods may require extended coverage to meet inspection and documentation deadlines.
