Project Engineer (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

Job Summary

Barton Malow is hiring a Project Engineer to support battery energy storage system projects, coordinating project controls, stakeholders, and field execution from preconstruction through closeout.

Project Details

The role supports industrial BESS projects in multiple locations and is based in Coldwater, Michigan, with travel determined by project requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead project coordination meetings and maintain communication with owners, design partners, trade contractors, and internal teams.
• Support procurement, bidding, scope development, pre-bid meetings, and bid evaluations.
• Develop project schedules, coordinate mobilization and permits, and assist with jobsite setup.
• Monitor budgets, cash flow, project costs, contract finances, and purchase orders.
• Assist the Superintendent with owner matters, subcontractor communications, staffing, and schedule compliance.
• Track risk, quality, team performance, and trade partner execution through project completion.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or engineering.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience, including industrial project experience and data center construction experience.
• Strong organization, contract knowledge, management, communication, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel based on project needs.
