OFCI Project Engineer (Mission Critical) Philadelphia, PA

Job Summary

Barton Malow is hiring an on-site OFCI Project Engineer to manage owner-furnished, contractor-installed equipment for a mission critical construction project near Philadelphia. The role connects owner vendors, the field team, and installing trade partners from procurement through commissioning and turnover.

Project Details

The position supports a mission critical jobsite where schedule-sensitive equipment must be tracked, delivered, received, staged, rigged, installed, and transferred to the installing subcontractor with complete documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the master equipment log and monitor vendor procurement, approvals, fabrication, testing, shipping, and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate delivery access, unloading, crane and rigging resources, traffic control, laydown areas, staging, equipment protection, and site security.
• Verify rigging routes, openings, structural capacity, and equipment pad readiness before scheduled deliveries.
• Define installation handoffs and keep vendors, trade partners, the field team, the Project Manager, and owner aligned on risks and responsibilities.
• Inspect deliveries, reconcile bills of lading and packing lists, document damage, manage claims, and track replacements.
• Compile warranty, operations and maintenance, spare-parts, and training records for closeout.
• Support commissioning by confirming equipment is set and released in time for startup and testing milestones.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent field experience.
• Two to five years of experience in construction project engineering, logistics, or materials management, including OFCI equipment coordination on a major project.
• Mission critical construction experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to interpret structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings for logistics and installation readiness.
• Experience with construction management, document control, spreadsheet, and scheduling software.
• Strong organization, communication, urgency, and ownership in a high-volume construction environment.

Compensation and Benefits

The position is full-time and on site near Philadelphia. Delivery and rigging operations may require early, extended, or off-hours coverage. Work includes weather, noise, active lifts, uneven terrain, and required personal protective equipment.
