General Trades & Interiors Assistant Superintendent/Foreman

Job Summary

Barton Malow Builders is hiring a General Trades and Interiors Assistant Superintendent/Foreman to direct self-perform field operations on a major Charleston project. This full-time field leadership role oversees craft labor, subcontractors, safety, quality, coordination, and schedule execution.

Project Details

The assigned scope includes general requirements and conditions, general carpentry, expansion joints, Division 10 specialties, interior finishes, and related specialty work. Healthcare construction experience is preferred, with infection control, ICRA, and ILSM protocols applicable to the project.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Barton Malow crews and subcontractors while coordinating sequencing, site logistics, labor plans, and daily field activities.
• Maintain field schedules, identify access and schedule conflicts, and communicate status and risks to the Project Manager.
• Promote site safety through daily walks, pre-task planning, hazard analysis, incident reporting, and OSHA compliance.
• Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals; verify materials and perform milestone quality checks.
• Prepare daily reports, document concealed work, track deliveries and installed quantities, and monitor scope completion.
• Support workforce planning and escalate labor performance concerns when needed.

Required Experience

• Demonstrated experience supervising and developing construction craft workers and field crews.
• Working knowledge of interiors and general trades, including Division 10, rough carpentry, and associated work.
• Ability to interpret construction documents, specifications, shop drawings, and submittals.
• Experience with daily reporting tools, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; Autodesk experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills; bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
