General Trades Field Superintendent

Job Summary

Barton Malow Builders is hiring a General Trades Field Superintendent to direct self-perform field operations on a major Charleston project. The superintendent will oversee crews, subcontractors, safety, quality, coordination, and schedule execution.

Project Details

The assignment covers healthcare construction with interior and specialty scopes, including general requirements, general conditions, rough carpentry, Division 10 specialties, expansion joints, and finish work. Infection control, ICRA, and ILSM protocols apply.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Barton Malow craft labor, subcontractors, sequencing, logistics, and daily field activities.
• Maintain schedules, identify constraints, participate in project meetings, and report field status to the Project Manager.
• Lead safety walks, pre-task planning, and hazard analyses while addressing unsafe conditions and reporting incidents.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, and delivered materials; perform quality checks and correct deficiencies.
• Prepare daily reports, document concealed work, track deliveries and installed quantities, and communicate procurement and schedule risks.
• Manage labor crews and support workforce planning as the project progresses.

Required Experience

• Experience supervising, directing, and developing construction craft workers and field crews.
• Working knowledge of interiors and general trades, including Division 10, interior specialties, rough carpentry, and related work.
• Ability to interpret construction documents, shop drawings, and specifications.
• Proficiency with daily reporting tools, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; Autodesk experience is a plus.
• Healthcare construction experience is preferred, and bilingual English/Spanish ability is strongly preferred.
• OSHA 30-hour certification is required or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
