Senior Safety Specialist Safety Trainer

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist with a training focus to coordinate and implement field safety programs across routine and complex construction projects in Kansas City. This role blends hands-on site safety work with developing and delivering training programs to support field and safety team personnel.

Responsibilities

• Conduct walk-through inspections and safety audits on assigned projects, documenting hazards and tracking abatement through internal safety management systems.
• Lead project-specific new hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitor subcontractor and prime contractor safety programs and participate in project planning and progress meetings.
• Support and chair project safety committees and assist in accident investigations, including root cause analysis.
• Manage controlled insurance program projects and oversee one or more large or complex projects simultaneously.
• Develop and deliver training programs using digital learning, classroom instruction, skill qualifications, and on-the-job training methods.
• Conduct trend analysis using safety management tools to identify problem areas and recommend corrective strategies.
• Assist safety leadership during insurance audits and help implement technologies to enhance learning experiences.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction safety experience required.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Intermediate) and company safety software platforms (Advanced).
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations with the ability to enforce compliance.
• Bachelor's degree in a safety or health-related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
