Safety Specialist 2 Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Safety Specialist 2 in Nashville to coordinate and implement safety programs on routine through complex commercial construction projects. The role supports field leadership, subcontractors, and project teams while progressing toward Senior Safety Specialist responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform site inspections and audits, document hazards, recommend corrective actions, and track abatement through company safety systems.
• Lead project orientations, support drug and alcohol policy compliance, and monitor subcontractor and prime contractor safety programs.
• Participate in project planning and progress meetings, support safety committees, and help implement project-specific safety activities.
• Assist with accident investigations, root-cause reviews, injury treatment coordination, return-to-work follow-up, and injury reporting.
• Analyze safety trends, recommend preventive measures, provide training, monitor incentive programs, and support insurance audits.
• Oversee safety activities for one large or complex project or multiple projects.

Required Experience

• At least 2 years of construction safety experience.
• Bachelor's degree in safety, health, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, local, and company safety regulations and the ability to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Strong written and verbal communication, relationship-building, collaboration, construction technology, and intermediate safety software skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
