Project Engineer 2 - Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Project Engineer 2 to support field execution and project administration on commercial construction work in Minneapolis. The role offers a progression path toward Senior Project Engineer or Superintendent.

Project Details

This position supports a range of commercial construction projects, including field operations, self-perform activities, quality coordination, closeout, and project controls.

Responsibilities

• Assist with construction planning, estimating, change management, schedules, daily logs, and project reporting.
• Support field activities by tracking crews, labor hours, materials, equipment, productivity, and progress.
• Coordinate punch lists, inspections, safety reviews, quality activities, procurement logs, shop drawings, and deliveries.
• Maintain project documentation and assist with closeout materials such as as-built drawings and operations manuals.
• Support subcontractor coordination, crew planning, cost control, project setup, and administration in CMiC and other company systems.
• Participate in safety planning, toolbox talks, Lean practices, team meetings, and mentoring of less experienced staff.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least two years of construction experience.
• Working knowledge of construction methods, self-perform operations, labor productivity, project technology, and Lean principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to communicate effectively with project teams, trades, subcontractors, and field leadership.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work in active construction environments, including standing, walking, climbing, bending, and reaching.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $83,204-$104,005 per year, depending on experience, with eligibility for a target performance bonus. The position is classified as professional non-union and includes the company’s applicable benefits package.
