Mechanical Construction Manager

Job Summary

PCL Industrial Services is seeking a Mechanical Construction Manager to lead field delivery of complex industrial work from the Phoenix, Arizona office and across active project sites. This role oversees mechanical execution, safety, cost, schedule, quality, and workforce performance while coordinating with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and commissioning teams.

Project Details

The portfolio spans data centers, power generation and energy transition, mining and mineral processing, petrochemical and refining, industrial gases, heavy manufacturing, and water and wastewater treatment. Mechanical scopes include process and utility piping, equipment installation, HVAC, modular systems, structural work, tie-ins, testing, and turnover.

Responsibilities

• Lead one major industrial project or multiple concurrent projects, managing safety, productivity, budget, schedule, quality, and profitability.
• Direct piping, equipment setting and alignment, modular installation, testing, mechanical completion, punch-list resolution, and commissioning turnover.
• Champion HSE practices for high-hazard work involving energized systems, hot work, confined spaces, hazardous fluids, heavy lifts, and elevated work.
• Lead constructability reviews, design coordination, logistics planning, procurement tracking, and critical-path protection.
• Manage self-perform mechanical crews, subcontractors, quality programs, welding compliance, nondestructive examination, and third-party inspections.
• Support estimating, pursuit strategy, preconstruction planning, manpower forecasting, client presentations, and project execution plans.
• Mentor superintendents, general foremen, field engineers, and QA/QC staff while coordinating owners, EPC firms, consultants, and specialty contractors.
• Administer contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, changes, claims, disputes, and project risk.

Required Experience

• Post-secondary education or training in mechanical or industrial engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• At least 15 years of progressive industrial construction experience leading mechanical scopes on large, complex projects.
• Experience with data centers, power, mining, petrochemical, industrial gases, water and wastewater, or other heavy industrial facilities.
• Working knowledge of ASME B31.1 and B31.3, ASME Section IX, API, NBIC, AWS, ANSI, OSHA 1910/1926, and process safety requirements.
• Expertise in modularization, heavy lifts, rigging, large-bore piping, equipment setting, hydrotesting, pre-commissioning, and mechanical completion.
• Experience with greenfield work, brownfield tie-ins, turnarounds, phased handovers, and multiple contract delivery methods.
• Strong contract administration, subcontracting, estimating, preconstruction, meeting leadership, presentation, and client communication skills.
• Ability to work within union and open-shop labor environments and travel to or relocate near active projects.
