Design Manager 2, Industrial Manufacturing Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn is seeking a Design Manager 2 to lead design management for industrial and manufacturing construction projects from early planning through startup and construction completion. The role coordinates owners, designers, trade partners, internal disciplines, and project operations teams.

Project Details

The position supports industrial, advanced technology, and high-tech manufacturing facilities. Design packages may include process planning, permitting, equipment procurement and installation, HVAC upgrades, structural modifications, and related architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, and process engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design-build requirements and develop design execution plans with preconstruction and operations teams.
• Manage design consultants, technical deliverables, design reviews, document control, budgets, schedules, and change management.
• Coordinate clients, architects, engineers, trade partners, regulatory agencies, and construction teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead field verifications, constructability reviews, technical problem-solving, and design support during construction.
• Develop concepts, sketches, models, project execution plans, pricing support, and value-improvement recommendations.
• Support business development, consultant selection, contract negotiations, and client relationship management.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
• Eight or more years of design and/or construction management experience preferred.
• Experience coordinating architectural, structural, MEP, process, and other engineering disciplines.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Google SketchUp.
• Knowledge of U.S. building codes, material standards, project budgeting, scheduling, Lean practices, and design-to-construction delivery.
• Industrial, advanced technology, high-tech manufacturing, Front End Loading, planning, or Lean Construction experience is preferred.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required.
