Design Management Director, Industrial Manufacturing Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn is seeking a Design Management Director to lead design delivery for industrial and manufacturing construction programs using design-build, EPC, and other alternative delivery methods. The role guides projects from early development through construction completion and startup.

Project Details

The portfolio may include industrial and advanced manufacturing facilities, with work spanning front-end planning, process development, permitting, equipment procurement, installation, and multidisciplinary design coordination.

Responsibilities

• Direct design teams, trade partners, consultants, clients, and construction operations throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage design scope, budgets, schedules, document control, contracts, change management, and project execution plans.
• Coordinate architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and chemical disciplines.
• Lead design partner selection, client presentations, business development efforts, and transition from design into construction.
• Verify field conditions, conduct site walks, and help resolve complex design issues during construction.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 15 or more years of design and/or construction management experience, including at least five years managing people.
• Experience taking conceptual designs through construction and working with multidisciplinary internal and external partners.
• Experience with design-build, EPC, or alternative contracting methods and associated contractual risk.
• Advanced MS Office, Autodesk Suite, drawing and specification interpretation, U.S. building codes, and material standards knowledge.
• Valid and unrestricted driver’s license required; familiarity with Lean construction or design and industrial or high-tech manufacturing is preferred.
