Civil Project Manager

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is hiring a Civil Project Manager to lead civil and underground utility work in Southern California. This role directs project delivery while owning safety, financial results, quality, schedule, and team development.

Project Details

Projects may include earthwork, wet and dry utilities, paving, sitework, underground utility installation, and other heavy civil scopes. The position may be based in Newport Beach, Los Angeles, or San Diego.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams and coordinate office, field, client, design, and subcontractor partners.
• Manage project budgets, pay applications, change orders, contracts, and cost forecasting.
• Support civil estimating and preconstruction, including subcontractor scope development and bid evaluation.
• Coordinate site logistics, staffing, submittals, shop drawings, construction scheduling, and schedule recovery efforts.
• Support safety programs, inspect work areas, and oversee quality and contract compliance.
• Build productive relationships with owners, designers, subcontractors, and prospective clients.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
• At least seven years of general contractor or subcontractor experience with sitework, underground utilities, or heavy civil construction.
• Knowledge of civil construction methods and experience managing subcontracts, subcontractors, or self-perform operations.
• Demonstrated success leading project teams and developing employees.
• Experience with HCSS/HeavyJob, Procore, or Bluebeam is beneficial.
• Ability to travel and/or relocate.

Compensation and Benefits

California salary range is $117,000-$161,000 per year, depending on location and qualifications. A possible bonus and additional employee benefits may contribute to total compensation.
