Assistant Safety Manager

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager in Houston to administer project safety efforts and strengthen proactive safety practices across employees, subcontractors, and project partners.

Project Details

The role supports large healthcare, commercial, industrial, mission-critical, and similar construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Monitor safety programs, conduct site inspections, and coordinate compliance reporting.
• Support safety orientations, documentation, toolbox meetings, and distribution of project safety records.
• Coordinate protective equipment, first-aid supplies, posted safety materials, and substance-abuse program administration.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, and near misses; maintain OSHA-related logs and coordinate corrective actions.
• Identify construction hazards and enforce company safety policies with project teams and subcontractors.

Required Experience

• At least three years managing safety efforts on large construction projects.
• Related bachelor's degree preferred.
• OSHA 500 preferred.
• Spanish bilingual ability preferred.
• Ability to collaborate with management, owners, trades, and subcontractors and exercise sound communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
