Assistant Project Manager - Marine Construction

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support marine construction projects in the Houston and Channelview, Texas area. This role combines project engineering, cost, safety, schedule, and team-management responsibilities while developing toward broader project leadership.

Project Details

The project portfolio includes marine and heavy civil work such as wharves, trestles, piers, dams, pump stations, and container storage facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support project accounting, CPM scheduling, subcontract and purchase order development, and project staffing coordination.
• Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and guide project staff and engineers.
• Process change requests, change orders, owner payment applications, and potential claims.
• Track job costs, prepare quantity and labor-cost reports, and support quarterly project profitability records.
• Lead on-site quality management activities, project closeout, and applicable safety programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of construction experience on relevant marine projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction practices and self-perform work planning and execution.
• Experience managing field personnel, building owner relationships, and maintaining strong jobsite safety performance.
• Willingness to relocate within the region and contribute effectively in a team environment.
