Assistant Project Manager - Civil

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support civil construction operations in the Los Angeles and Newport Beach area. The role partners with the Project Manager and may oversee major project segments and junior project staff.

Project Details

This position supports McCarthy’s Civil team and is based in Southern California, with regional mobility required.

Responsibilities

• Support project accounting, schedules, subcontracts, purchase orders, and staff responsibility assignments.
• Coordinate with the Project Superintendent and provide direction and training to project engineers and other staff.
• Process change requests, change orders, payment applications, and applicable claims.
• Monitor costs, labor performance, quantity reporting, project records, quality management, and closeout activities.
• Implement applicable safety and equal employment programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of construction experience on relevant projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction practices, field staff management experience, and strong owner relationship skills.
• Demonstrated jobsite safety performance, strong teamwork, and willingness to relocate within the region.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $97,000-$131,000 per year, with potential bonus and additional benefits. McCarthy is a 100% employee-owned company offering training and a Total Rewards benefits program.
