Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its commercial construction operations in Kansas City. This role supports project delivery while developing expertise in project controls, cost management, field coordination, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support project accounting, CPM scheduling, subcontracts, purchase orders, and project staffing coordination.
• Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and guide project engineers and other staff.
• Process change requests, change orders, payment applications, and potential claims.
• Monitor job costs, prepare quantity and labor reports, and support quarterly project financial reporting.
• Help lead the site quality-management program and manage project closeout activities.
• Implement applicable safety and equal employment opportunity programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• Three to seven years of construction experience on relevant projects.
• Advanced knowledge of construction practices and experience managing field staff and owner relationships.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and work ethic, with a demonstrated record of jobsite safety performance.
