Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Project Manager for its commercial construction field operations team in Newport Beach. This role supports the Project Manager while developing leadership, communication, cost-management, and project-delivery skills.

Responsibilities

• Support project accounting, construction scheduling, subcontract and purchase order development, and staff responsibility planning.
• Provide administrative support to the Project Superintendent and guide project engineers and other staff.
• Process change proposals, change orders, payment applications, and claims when applicable.
• Track job costs, prepare quantity and labor-cost reports, and support project financial reviews.
• Lead quality-management activities and coordinate project closeout.
• Implement applicable safety and equal employment opportunity programs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
• At least three years of construction experience on relevant projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction practices, field-staff management, owner relations, and jobsite safety.
• Willingness to relocate within the region and work collaboratively with project teams.

Compensation and Benefits

The stated salary range is $97,000-$127,000, with possible bonus and additional benefits. McCarthy is a 100% employee-owned company offering training programs and a Total Rewards benefits program.
