Traveling Electrical Field Engineer Oil, Gas, and Chemical

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Traveling Electrical Field Engineer to support EPC projects in the oil, gas, and chemical market. This mid-level field operations role will lead electrical engineering activities while supporting safe, quality-focused project execution.

Project Details

Assignments support complex industrial projects involving oil and gas, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, biofuels, and other process facilities. Projects may be located anywhere in the United States, including large cities and small towns.

Responsibilities

• Plan and schedule electrical work, support procurement, and coordinate design issues with clients and engineering teams.
• Review drawings and specifications, perform material takeoffs and quantity calculations, and help develop cost estimates, work plans, and work packages.
• Interpret technical documents for field crews and craft supervision and track installed quantities, costs, materials, and equipment.
• Prepare job hazard analyses, administer safety programs, support quality control, and maintain owner relationships.
• Coordinate with superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and craft teams while providing technical guidance and mentorship.

Required Experience

• Degree in construction management or a related field.
• At least three years of electrical construction experience.
• Knowledge of construction safety requirements, the National Electrical Code, project scheduling, cost control, owner specifications, and engineering drawings.
• Microsoft Office experience required; familiarity with SureTrak, Hard Dollar, Revit, SAP, Prolog, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
• Strong communication, organization, time management, attention to detail, and independent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to access all areas of construction sites, work in varied climates, work overtime and weekends as needed, and travel or relocate as required.
