Transmission Line Engineer - Kiewit Power Delivery Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery is seeking a mid-level Transmission Line Engineer to support overhead transmission design and engineering for utility and energy clients across the United States. The position is based in Lenexa, Kansas, and supports projects from early planning through construction.

Project Details

The team delivers overhead transmission systems ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV through conventional engineering and EPC project execution. Work may support utility, renewable energy, industrial, and related power delivery markets.

Responsibilities

• Engineer and analyze overhead transmission lines, including routing, structures, conductors, insulation, loading, and hardware.
• Prepare and review plan and profile drawings, structure loading information, foundation loads, material quantities, and construction packages.
• Model and optimize line designs using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole or PLS-Tower, SAG10, and related tools.
• Evaluate feasibility, routing alternatives, environmental limitations, constructability, and cost considerations.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, and electrical disciplines during design reviews, quality checks, procurement, and construction.
• Respond to RFIs, review supplier information, and help resolve field design issues.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, civil, or structural engineering.
• Five to seven years of overhead transmission line design experience in a utility, EPC, or consulting setting.
• Familiarity with PLS-CADD and associated transmission engineering software.
• Knowledge of NESC, ASCE, and utility-specific design standards.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines, meet deadlines, work occasional overtime or weekends, and follow safety requirements.
