Job Summary

Kiewit Power Delivery is seeking a Superintendent 2 to provide field leadership for high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation construction projects. The role oversees site execution, safety, quality, scheduling, productivity, cost control, and client coordination.

Project Details

Assignments include overhead and underground transmission, distribution systems, and greenfield or brownfield substations. Work may involve transmission structures, conductors, foundations, transformers, breakers, switchgear, protection and control systems, commissioning, outage coordination, and utility interfaces. Projects use progressive design-build and Early Contractor Involvement approaches.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily field operations and supervise foremen, craft personnel, subcontractors, and large field crews.
• Plan manpower, equipment, materials, and work activities to support schedule and production targets.
• Lead safety meetings, job hazard analyses, audits, incident follow-up, and compliance efforts.
• Coordinate construction with project managers, engineers, utilities, inspectors, and clients.
• Monitor quality, productivity, labor, materials, equipment, project costs, and field risks.
• Support inspections, testing, turnover, cost updates, cash-flow projections, and project closeout.
• Mentor foremen and junior superintendents while maintaining performance records and supporting personnel decisions.

Required Experience

• At least 8 years of construction experience, including 3 or more years in a leadership role on transmission or substation projects; the posting also describes a preference for 10 or more years overall and 5 or more years in superintendent or equivalent leadership work.
• Extensive experience with high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation construction.
• Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, utility standards, and project requirements.
• Experience leading complex infrastructure teams, subcontractors, and client-facing field coordination.
• Strong communication, planning, negotiation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to work at active sites, including overtime, weekends, outage work, and changing weather conditions.
