Senior Substation Engineer - Kiewit Power Engineering

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Senior Substation Engineer to support utility power delivery work from its Lenexa, Kansas office. The role provides technical leadership across detailed design and EPC assignments.

Project Details

The team delivers substation, transmission, and distribution projects spanning 12kV to 500kV for electric utility, renewable energy, industrial, and related power clients across North America.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate assigned substation projects and provide engineering oversight.
• Develop equipment specifications covering procurement, installation, and testing.
• Use engineering software for grounding grid design, equipment sizing, relay coordination, and electrical studies.
• Coordinate technical work with project managers, customers, and other stakeholders.

Required Experience

• Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• At least seven years of engineering-related experience.
• Active Professional Engineer license.
• Knowledge of NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
