Job Summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a Senior Roadway Engineer for its Design Engineering Services Group, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, with an alternate office location in Westlake, Texas. The role leads transportation design teams supporting design-build and alternative-delivery infrastructure projects.

Project Details

The position supports major highway and civil infrastructure work through an integrated engineering organization that includes roadway, structural, geotechnical, drainage, rail, and materials disciplines. The role is office-based and may require travel to project locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway and civil design teams as an Engineer of Record, discipline lead, task manager, deputy project lead, or project lead.
• Direct interdisciplinary coordination, design issue resolution, stakeholder communication, and technical meetings.
• Oversee roadway models and plans, including geometrics, signing and marking, maintenance of traffic, wall plans, design exceptions, deviations, and released-for-construction documents.
• Manage roadway design scope, schedule, budget, quality procedures, reviews, and comment resolution.
• Supervise, mentor, evaluate, and support the professional development of junior and mid-level staff.

Required Experience

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering and an active Professional Engineer registration are required.
• At least 15 years of civil or highway design experience, including transportation construction plans and design-team leadership.
• Experience with design-build or alternative delivery methods and mentoring engineering staff.
• Expert knowledge of AASHTO highway geometric design standards, the USDOT/FHWA MUTCD, and the AASHTO Roadside Design Guide.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk or Bentley CAD platforms is preferred; experience with AI agents and tools is also preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and a commitment to safe, reliable, deadline-driven work are required.
