Job Summary

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers is seeking a senior structural engineer to support heavy rail bridge and transportation design work from its Westlake, Texas office, with additional locations available in Lenexa, Kansas, and Omaha, Nebraska.

Project Details

The Structures group supports design-build and alternative-delivery transportation projects involving Class I railroads, shortlines, industrial clients, transit systems, bridges, walls, foundations, culverts, and related structures.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural and bridge design activities, including calculations, plans, specifications, estimates, inspections, and load ratings.
• Coordinate with CADD staff, clients, partners, estimators, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines.
• Apply applicable design standards and codes while developing constructible solutions for complex technical challenges.
• Review junior engineers' work, provide mentorship, and lead portions of projects or technical pursuits.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree or higher in structural or civil engineering; a master's degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of relevant structural or bridge engineering design experience.
• Professional Engineer registration and experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American codes.
• Experience with rail, industrial, transit, or comparable transportation clients, including bridge design, inspection, and load-rating work.
• Experience supervising junior engineers, coordinating work across offices, and serving as a technical specialist or project manager.
• Design-build experience, seismic analysis, and familiarity with CSiBridge, MIDAS, PGSuper, or similar software are preferred.
