Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead complex mechanical design work for utility-scale power generation and EPC projects across North America. The role supports projects from conceptual development through detailed design and construction.

Project Details

The Power district delivers engineering and construction support for gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental retrofits, renewables, emerging energy technologies, and water/wastewater facilities. Work includes greenfield and brownfield power plant systems, balance-of-plant systems, and mechanical piping.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analyses, calculations, research, equipment selection, and high-complexity design for EPC projects.
• Develop P&IDs, PFDs, equipment specifications, layouts, equipment lists, procurement packages, and construction documentation.
• Size and specify boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, pumps, and other major equipment.
• Apply applicable codes, standards, contract requirements, and company procedures while checking design deliverables.
• Coordinate engineers, designers, and drafters; support schedules and staffing; and review work progress.
• Lead portions of design projects and provide technical mentoring to junior engineers.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline from an ABET-accredited program.
• At least 8 years of mechanical engineering design experience in power generation applications.
• Current Professional Engineer license or active progress toward PE licensure.
• Strong communication, organization, technical leadership, safety, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel domestically and work overtime or weekends when project needs require.

Compensation and Benefits
