Senior Building Structural Engineer

Job Summary

Kiewit is hiring a Senior Building Structural Engineer to lead structural analysis, design, documentation, and technical delivery for complex commercial, industrial, and infrastructure facilities. The position may be based in Lone Tree, Colorado; Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey; or Manhattan, New York.

Project Details

The engineering group supports design-build, progressive design-build, and EPC work across industrial, infrastructure, energy, healthcare, aviation, nuclear, federal, mission-critical, education, sports, and commercial building markets. Projects may include steel, concrete, masonry, superstructure, and foundation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural calculations, modeling, analysis, design, detailing, specifications, and construction documentation.
• Evaluate seismic and wind loads, design steel and concrete systems, and develop constructable solutions aligned with cost and schedule objectives.
• Coordinate structural deliverables with architects, engineers, estimators, clients, construction teams, and design consultants.
• Provide technical support during construction, including shop drawing reviews, RFIs, non-conformance reports, and field-related engineering issues.
• Conduct quality control and technical risk reviews, support estimates and proposals, and contribute to project budgets and schedules.
• Lead structural teams, manage BIM/CAD designers and engineers, facilitate coordination meetings, and mentor junior staff.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Professional Engineer license required or in progress, with the ability to obtain licenses in additional states; Structural Engineer license preferred.
• At least 10 years of structural analysis and design experience on medium- and large-scale projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, superstructures, and foundations.
• Knowledge of applicable building standards and codes, including ASCE, AISC, ACI, and NDS.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, ETABS, RAM, RISA, or similar tools.
• At least three years of experience leading or mentoring engineers and managing project scope and schedules.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM, CAD, construction-phase engineering, inspection, or construction management is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
