Safety Specialist Kiewit Power Constructors

Job Summary

Kiewit Power Constructors is seeking a Safety Specialist to support field teams and strengthen employee ownership of safety programs on power construction projects based in Lenexa, Kansas.

Project Details

The power district delivers direct-hire construction for major power generation and solar projects across North America with a union craft workforce.

Responsibilities

• Exercise stop-work authority and help enforce company policies, regulations, work plans, and detailed work packages.
• Coordinate daily hazard inspections, corrective actions, safety planning, and field support with operations, craft employees, and subcontractors.
• Maintain safety and incident records and assist with investigations and corrective solutions.
• Review work plans before execution and support training covering company procedures, OSHA/MSHA requirements, NCCER, SIMS, orientations, and client standards.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in health and safety, environmental studies, occupational health and safety, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and current federal and OSHA requirements.
• Zero to two years of construction safety experience, particularly involving training coordination.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, along with strong organization, communication, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, maintain reliable attendance, meet deadlines, and work overtime or weekends when needed.
