Safety Specialist 1 Kiewit Energy

Job Summary

Kiewit Energy is seeking an entry-level Safety Specialist I to support field safety programs on Oil, Gas, and Chemical construction projects. The role reports to the Project Safety Manager and helps implement site-specific safety requirements across active project locations.

Project Details

Kiewit Energy delivers complex EPC work in industrial process markets, including oil and gas, refining, chemicals, petrochemicals, biofuels, and related facilities. Assignments are based at project sites and may require frequent travel and relocation.

Responsibilities

• Support the development, communication, and maintenance of site-specific safety plans for employees and subcontractors.
• Work with craft and operations teams to promote safe work practices, investigate incidents, and implement corrective actions.
• Conduct documented hazard inspections and review work plans before work begins.
• Maintain safety and injury records, assist with first aid coordination, and support emergency medical relationships.
• Provide safety training covering company procedures, OSHA and MSHA requirements, orientations, and client standards.
• Exercise stop-work authority when work does not comply with safety requirements.

Required Experience

• 0-2 years of construction safety experience.
• OSHA 30 and current First Aid/CPR.
• Knowledge of construction safety practices and applicable federal and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to travel, relocate, access all areas of construction sites, and work overtime or weekends as needed.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, with strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
• Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related field is preferred.
• Safety professional or Emergency Medical Technician certification is preferred.
