Safety Manager - MSHA - Industrial

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a senior-level Safety Manager to lead project safety execution for industrial construction work beginning in Bagdad, Arizona. The role supports field operations, craft employees, project leadership, and regulatory compliance under a company-wide zero-injury commitment.

Project Details

The Industrial District performs direct-hire construction across data centers, mineral processing, energy, and water projects, ranging from small capital work to major EPC programs. This position begins in Bagdad and may require relocation as project assignments change.

Responsibilities

• Manage project safety programs and implement the site-specific safety plan.
• Inspect work areas, equipment, and workforce practices; document hazards and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate safety training, including MSHA orientation and client-specific requirements.
• Lead incident investigations, maintain safety and injury records, and communicate lessons learned.
• Review work plans and work packages before work begins and exercise stop-work authority when needed.
• Work with operations, craft personnel, subcontractors, emergency providers, and MSHA or state inspectors.

Required Experience

• Degree in occupational health and safety, environmental safety, or a related field; five or more years as a Safety Manager may substitute.
• At least five years of safety experience managing mining or construction projects.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and MSHA regulations, hazard recognition, recordkeeping, and injury management.
• CSP and CHST are preferred.
• CPR/First Aid, EMT, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, strong communication skills, and the ability to work across varied site conditions are required.
• Must be willing to relocate, work overtime or weekends when required, and access all areas of a construction site.
