Safety Manager - Industrial Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a senior-level Safety Manager to lead project-level health, safety, and environmental efforts for complex industrial construction work in Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Project Details

The Kiewit Industrial District supports data centers, mineral processing, energy, water, and other industrial projects ranging from smaller capital work to major EPC assignments. This role is based at a project site for approximately 2-3 years and requires substantial travel and site presence.

Responsibilities

• Direct implementation, oversight, and continuous improvement of project safety programs and corporate standards.
• Perform field audits covering permits, records, site conditions, work practices, and employee understanding of safety requirements.
• Visit active projects, support construction management teams, and coordinate with safety professionals across the organization.
• Mentor project safety staff and participate in recruiting and selecting safety personnel.
• Maintain incident-management information, support treatment coordination, and oversee investigations and root-cause follow-through.
• Prepare district safety plans, monthly reports, and project improvement strategies.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of construction environmental health and safety experience on industrial projects.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related safety discipline.
• Experience managing safety programs for increasingly complex projects, including hazard recognition, recordkeeping, and injury management.
• Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA requirements; instructor credentials are preferred.
• CSP, CPR/First Aid, and EMT credentials are preferred but not all required.
• Ability to work reliably, meet deadlines, communicate professionally, and work overtime or weekends when needed.
