Safety Manager - Industrial Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Manager to lead project-level health, safety, and environmental programs for complex industrial construction work. The role is based at project sites and requires a proactive leader who can work independently, learn company systems, and partner closely with construction teams.

Project Details

Kiewit's Industrial District delivers projects nationwide across data centers, mineral processing, energy, and water, ranging from smaller capital improvements to major EPC assignments.

Responsibilities

• Set up, administer, and continuously improve project safety programs and corporate standards.
• Conduct site audits covering documentation, permits, field conditions, work practices, and employee understanding.
• Visit active projects, support construction leadership, and maintain effective relationships with safety professionals.
• Develop project safety staff through mentoring, hiring participation, and performance support.
• Manage incident data, treatment processes, investigations, root-cause analysis, and required reporting.
• Prepare district safety plans, monthly reports, and improvement strategies.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of construction environmental health and safety experience on industrial projects.
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or a related safety discipline.
• Experience managing safety programs on projects of increasing complexity.
• Knowledge of MSHA and OSHA regulations, hazard recognition, recordkeeping, and injury management.
• CSP certification, CPR/First Aid, EMT, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications are preferred.
• Must maintain reliable attendance, communicate effectively, meet deadlines, and work overtime or weekends when required.
