Safety Manager

Job Summary

Kiewit Foundations Co. is seeking a Safety Manager to lead and strengthen environmental health and safety practices for active geotechnical construction operations. The role supports field teams, audits safety performance, and promotes a company-wide injury-prevention culture.

Project Details

The foundations group delivers drilled shafts, piles, soil mixing, excavation support, anchors, tie-backs, and other specialty geotechnical work across transportation, power, water and wastewater, mining, building, industrial, oil, gas, and chemical markets.

Responsibilities

• Administer project- and district-level safety and environmental programs.
• Review incident and occupational illness data and recommend hazard-reduction measures.
• Inspect jobsite facilities, equipment, and safety systems for compliance and potential hazards.
• Observe field work, correct unsafe practices, and coach employees on safe behavior.
• Create safety training materials and maintain records for employee and vendor training.
• Interpret applicable safety requirements and coordinate training such as new-hire orientation, fall protection, confined space, lockout/tagout, and respiratory protection.
• Communicate with OSHA or other regulatory inspectors during site visits.

Required Experience

• Degree in occupational health and safety, industrial safety, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Construction safety knowledge and familiarity with current federal and OSHA requirements preferred.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with project teams, use standard office software, and perform duties across changing terrain and weather conditions.
• Safety professional or Emergency Medical Technician certification is preferred.
• Reliable attendance, effective communication, and willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
